You wrote a book and we are proud of you. Truly. We are so honored you’re sharing it with us.
At Pages & Grapes, authors are responsible for bringing their own books and handling all sales transactions during their event. In exchange, we do not take a percentage of sales and we host events free of charge. We’re always open to conversation, and any exceptions can be discussed after your event form is submitted.
A large space, tables, and chairs are provided!
Author Event Tips from Pages & Grapes
Here’s the honest (and loving) truth: once your book is out in the world, you are its biggest champion. And we’re right there with you, but we can’t do it alone.
We love promoting authors. We hand-sell books we adore. We talk about them constantly. But as an independent bookstore, we’re balancing thousands of titles, multiple events, and a whole lot of stories we believe in.
Your success is a partnership. And when we work together? Magic happens.
Invite Your People to your event
We’ll promote your event in store and on our socials, but we don’t know your network the way you do. Tell readers why this event matters to you. Share a quote from the book. Talk about what inspired it. Make it personal - your voice is what connects.
Email your list. Post it. Share it in your reader groups. Ask your friends to spread the word. Word-of-mouth is powerful. You never know who has a book club, a following, or ten friends ready to show up and support you.
Promote your event Early (and More Than Once)
Please don’t wait until the week-of or day-of to mention your event. It doesn’t work.
A simple timeline works beautifully: 1 month out, 2 weeks out, 1 week out, a few days before and day of.
It only takes a few minutes each time, but it increases the likelihood of a strong turnout.
Build a Relationship with Us
Take photos. Tag the bookstore. Chat with us. Sign stock when you visit.
When we love an author, we talk about them constantly. We recommend them. We display them. We champion them long after the event ends.
We also notice who consistently supports independent bookstores, and who only promotes big online retailers. Relationships matter in this industry, and we genuinely love cheering on authors who show up for us, too.
Do Not Promote Amazon During Your Event
Independent bookstores are small businesses. When readers purchase through us (or directly from you in our space), it allows us to keep hosting events like yours.
Mentioning or directing customers to Amazon while in-store is not aligned with our values and may impact future event opportunities.
Thank you for honoring this boundary.
Remember – We are a Community
Your event isn’t the only one on our calendar, just like your book isn’t the only one on our shelves, and that’s a beautiful thing. Support other authors. Share other events. Show up when you can. This industry thrives on mutual encouragement. The authors who invest in the community tend to see that love returned tenfold.
We love romance. We love writers. We love the brave act of putting a story into the world. When we partner together intentionally, everyone wins…especially readers. Sincerely, Heather & James
